Enhancing logistics can dramatically reduce the number of hours that delayed or stranded freight is present at the port of Bremerhaven, according to a scholarly examination into a pilot project at a shipping terminal in Copenhagen. The scholarly report asserts that even though the initiative began in June, the logistics problem caused by delayed products is the biggest obstacle to putting the considerable changes the Danish port needs to make into practice.Jorgen Liebenwaldt, from the Danish Technical University in Copenhagen's Department of Transportation Economics, states that "we are convinced that this is the right time to test new transport planning tools in a realistic, controlled environment and now is the time to prove that these new logistics tools work."
To develop the new logistical solutions, a number of enterprises collaborated with logistics experts from the Danish Transport Agency, as well as the universities of Aalborg and Copenhagen.
